The Government Relations Practice

FS Vector’s Government Relations team provides strategic advocacy and political intelligence to clients operating in highly regulated markets. We engage across Congress, federal regulatory agencies, trade associations, and the broader policy ecosystem to help clients anticipate risk, shape regulatory outcomes, and build durable stakeholder relationships.

Our work reflects traditional Washington government relations practice — rigorous policy analysis, disciplined stakeholder engagement, coalition coordination, and high-quality written advocacy — grounded in deep expertise in banking, payments, and fintech policy.

The Role

FS Vector is seeking a full-time Associate to join our Government Relations team in Washington, D.C.

This is an early-career professional role ideal for individuals seeking meaningful exposure to Capitol Hill and federal regulatory policymaking in the financial services sector. While continued advancement at FS Vector is possible, this role is also excellent for candidates who are eager to build foundational Washington experience over a 2 year horizon before pursuing longer-term goals such as law school, congressional service, regulatory roles.

Associates are core contributors to client engagements. This role requires strong research and writing skills, sound professional judgment, responsiveness, and the ability to produce client-ready work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Monitoring & Analysis

• Track and analyze legislative and regulatory developments affecting financial institutions and fintech companies
• Distill complex political and regulatory developments into structured, actionable insights
• Monitor hearings, rulemakings, enforcement trends, and emerging policy narratives
• Produce clear, concise, and client-ready written work, including policy memos, briefings, summaries, and background research
• Share relevant intelligence with the team and clients in a timely manner
  

Client Support & Engagement

• Attend and actively participate in client meetings, taking ownership of assigned follow-ups
• Prepare briefing materials and background documents for meetings with Members of Congress, staff, and federal regulators
• Support and, as appropriate, accompany senior team members and clients in stakeholder meetings
• Deliver responsive, high-quality work product under tight deadlines
• Proactively volunteer for additional workstreams when capacity allows
  

Stakeholder Development

• Build and maintain professional relationships within the policy ecosystem
• Identify opportunities to expand networks beyond immediate client work
• Maintain connections with past colleagues and relevant contacts
• Represent FS Vector and its clients with professionalism and discretion

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 0–3 years of relevant experience in Congress, a federal regulatory agency, trade association, public affairs firm, or financial services policy environment
• Strong interest in financial services regulation, banking, payments, or fintech
• Exceptional research and writing skills, with demonstrated ability to produce client-ready work
• High attention to detail and strong organizational discipline, familiarity with basic productivity and AI tools
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Professional demeanor and sound judgment in client-facing and stakeholder settings

This position is based in Washington, D.C. Associates are expected to be present in the office during the workweek.
