The Government Relations Practice

FS Vector’s Government Relations team provides strategic advocacy and political intelligence to clients operating in highly regulated markets. We engage across Congress, federal regulatory agencies, trade associations, and the broader policy ecosystem to help clients anticipate risk, shape regulatory outcomes, and build durable stakeholder relationships.

Our work reflects traditional Washington government relations practice, including rigorous policy analysis, disciplined stakeholder engagement, coalition coordination, and high-quality written advocacy, grounded in deep expertise in banking, payments, and fintech policy.

The Role

The Fall Associate will work across our Government Relations Team, including conducting policy research, monitoring Congressional hearings and regulatory activity, drafting client-facing materials, and supporting ongoing advocacy efforts. Fall Associates will gain firsthand exposure to public affairs strategy and the evolving financial services policy landscape. 

Although generally hired on a temporary, part time basis, this is a paid position where candidates will be expected to contribute directly often and be vocal, integral members of a tight-knit team of subject matter experts working closely with a diverse group of clients.

What are we looking for in a Fall Associate?

The Fall Associate on our Government Relations team should demonstrate an interest in public policy, politics, and financial services. An interest in working alongside emerging technology companies is also valuable. Candidates should be eager to gain experience at an advisory firm operating at the intersection of government, business, technology, and finance. We are looking for students who are strong written and verbal communicators with exceptional research and analytical skills. Associates will support the team across ongoing client engagements through policy research, legislative and regulatory monitoring, stakeholder mapping, hearing summaries, and other client-facing work.

Most importantly, we are seeking candidates who are creative, motivated, and possess a high level of intellectual curiosity.

Our Fall Associates play an integral role in supporting the Government Relations team while gaining firsthand experience in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment. A successful candidate is a high-achieving, detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for public policy and a desire to contribute meaningfully to client work.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate, Graduate, or Law student with an interest in financial services regulation.
• Preference given to those with previous internship experience at a financial services regulatory agency, trade association, Congress, or law firm’s financial services practice.
• Experience conducting research and performing analysis, writing and distilling complex ideas and concepts into a digestible format.
• Familiarity with financial services, including the relevant regulatory environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as a member of a team.
• Problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing priorities.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Internship  positions at FS Vector require a commitment of three months, starting from September 9, 2026, to December 19, 2026 (note: we can be flexible on specific start and end dates but are looking for individuals who can make a 12 week commitment). The anticipated work hours are from Monday to Friday, with an expected workload of 35 to 40 hours per week. Fall Associates at FS Vector are expected to work from our Washington, DC office.
