TX Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Licenses Transition to NMLS on April 15
The Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner (OCCC) will begin accepting new application filings and transition filings through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) starting April 15, 2026 for several motor vehicle sales finance license types (listed below).
Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Licenses
- Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Company License
- Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Branch License
Commercial Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Licenses
- Commercial Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Company License
- Commercial Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Branch License
The transition expands the use of NMLS for licensing and ongoing management of entities engaged in motor vehicle sales finance activities in Texas.
Entities currently licensed or planning to apply for these license types should prepare to submit new applications or transition filings through NMLS beginning April 15.
Organizations affected by this change should review their licensing structure, including any registered trade names or branch locations, to ensure information is properly reflected in NMLS prior to filing.
